Sharpen your decision-making and precision skills with the AR500 IPSC Hostage Silhouette Target – a challenging reactive steel target featuring a vital zone overlay and hostage setup for realistic training scenarios. Proudly made in Central Texas by active Army service members, this target combines veteran expertise with top-tier materials for demanding range use.
Precision CNC laser-cut from military-grade 3/8" thick American-made AR500 steel for clean edges and minimal heat-affected zones, it delivers exceptional durability against centerfire rifle and pistol rounds. The 12" x 20" silhouette (66% IPSC sizing) includes a 6" round vital zone and 4" hostage configuration, perfect for no-shoot drills and precision shooting. The 18" x 30" silhouette (100% IPSC sizing) includes an 8" round vital zone and 6" hostage configuration. Hang it easily using 1/2" Grade 8 carriage bolts with compatible mounts like the Dual Adjustable T-Post Hanger or other mobile systems (mounts sold separately).
Ships unfinished with a soft texture and smoothly processed edges for safe handling. Designs are continually refined for ongoing improvements.

Our 3/8" AR500 steel targets are rifle-rated and designed for exceptional durability across a wide range of calibers. To minimize surface pitting and extend target life:
- .223/5.56x45mm: 100+ yards
- 6.5 Creedmoor & .308/7.62x51mm: 150+ yards
- Magnum rifle cartridges: 300+ yards
- .50 BMG: 500+ yards
All standard pistol calibers are safe at any distance. For magnum pistol rounds (e.g., .44 Mag, .357 Mag), use 25+ yards.
These distances are conservative guidelines for optimal condition. Real-world testing shows outstanding performance at closer distances: 5.56 FMJ at under 20 yards leaves only minor marks, while high-velocity magnums like a custom 300 RUM (245gr Berger at 3100 FPS) at 300 yards produce no pitting. We've rigorously tested dozens of cartridges with excellent results, which is why we exclusively offer 3/8" thickness – delivering proven protection without the added cost and weight of thicker steel.
